Job Title: SHOWROOM SALES CONSULTANT

Premium Tiles & Interior Finishes

Type of Business:

Retail | Show Room Sales

Location: Mombasa, Kenya

Industry: Luxury Retail | Building Materials & Interior Finishes

Salary: KES. 45,000 Gross per Month + Attractive Profit-Sharing Structure + Bonuses + Other Benefits

Application Deadline:

Friday, 20 November 2026

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

This role exists to turn showroom visits into sales, and sales into lasting client relationships. The Showroom Sales Consultant owns the full customer journey: welcoming and advising walk-in customers, guiding them to the right premium tiles, sanitary ware and interior finishing solutions, closing sales at healthy margins, and building a network of architects, interior designers, contractors and developers who bring repeat business and referrals.

Success is measured by outcomes, not activity: individual sales targets consistently achieved and exceeded, a pipeline of active quotations that converts, a growing base of trade and professional referrals, and a showroom experience that customers describe as exceptional.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is one of Kenya's leading destinations for premium ceramic and porcelain tiles, luxury sanitary ware, bathroom accessories and interior finishing solutions. Serving homeowners, architects, interior designers, contractors and property developers, they are renowned for exceptional products and an outstanding customer experience.

This is more than a sales role. It is about building relationships, inspiring confidence and delivering a memorable customer experience. It suits a natural communicator who has already achieved measurable sales results in a premium, customer-facing environment and can point to specific targets they have hit, accounts they have grown and clients who come back because of them.

SET EXPECTATIONS

First 30 Days: Learn and Engage

Master the core product ranges, applications, layouts, finishes and pricing guidelines well enough to advise customers confidently without supervision.

Learn the quotation, negotiation and order fulfilment processes, including coordination with the warehouse and operations teams, and become fully operational in the CRM or sales management system.

Meet the showroom, warehouse and operations teams and begin building working relationships with the branch's key trade clients: architects, interior designers, contractors and developers.

Begin handling customers independently, preparing accurate quotations and closing your first sales.

First 60 Days: Build and Convert

Own the full sales cycle end to end: needs assessment, product recommendation, quotation, follow-up, negotiation within approved pricing guidelines, closing and delivery coordination.

Build and maintain an active pipeline of quotations and prospects, with follow-ups completed on schedule and no proposal left unattended.

Achieve the agreed ramp-up percentage of the individual monthly sales target.

Identify and pursue at least a set number of new business opportunities through networking, client visits and proactive sales activity.

First 90 Days: Perform and Grow

Achieve 100% of the individual monthly sales target and demonstrate a consistent trajectory to exceed it.

Convert your trade relationships into measurable repeat business or referrals.

Maintain complete, accurate customer records, quotations and sales activity in the CRM, reliable enough for management to forecast from.

Agree your ongoing sales targets and business development priorities with management for the remainder of the year.

Success at 90 days looks like:

you are a trusted advisor to customers and trade partners, your pipeline converts predictably, your targets are being met, and the team treats you as a fully established member of the showroom.

KEY PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

1. Sales Performance and Revenue Growth

Consistently achieve and exceed individual monthly sales targets while contributing to overall showroom performance.

Prepare quotations promptly, negotiate within approved pricing guidelines, follow up on every proposal and close sales at a conversion rate agreed with management.

Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, client visits, referrals and proactive sales activity, adding a measurable number of new accounts each quarter.

Success looks like:

Targets met or exceeded month after month, with a visible, converting pipeline behind the numbers.

2. Customer Experience and Consultative Selling

Deliver an exceptional showroom experience: warmly welcome every customer, understand their project needs, and recommend products that suit their style, budget and design vision.

Provide professional advice on tile applications, layouts, finishes, quantities and product specifications so customers make informed, confident purchasing decisions.

Coordinate with warehouse and operations teams so that every order you close is fulfilled accurately and delivered on time.

Success looks like:

Customers leave confident in their purchase, orders are fulfilled without errors or delays, and customer satisfaction feeds repeat business.

3. Trade and Professional Relationships

Build and nurture strong working relationships with architects, interior designers, contractors, developers and retail partners.

Convert these relationships into repeat business and referrals that can be tracked and measured.

Stay informed on new product collections, design trends, competitor offerings and market developments, and use that knowledge in client conversations.

Success looks like:

A growing share of your sales comes from repeat clients and referrals rather than walk-in traffic alone.

4. Pipeline and CRM Discipline

Maintain accurate, up-to-date customer records, quotations and sales activities within the CRM or sales management system.

Follow up every open quotation within agreed timelines so no opportunity goes cold through inaction.

Success looks like:

Management can see your pipeline at any time and rely on it for forecasting.

5. Showroom Standards and Brand Presentation

Keep the showroom attractive, well-merchandised and reflective of the company's premium brand standards at all times.

Present yourself and the brand with the professionalism expected of a premium retail environment, including during busy periods.

Success looks like:

The showroom consistently reflects the premium brand, and customers experience the same standard of service at peak times as at quiet ones.

WHAT SUCCESS REQUIRES

Candidates will be assessed on evidence of having achieved comparable results, not on credentials alone. In practice, this will most likely mean:

A Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Sales & Marketing, Business Administration, Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.

At least 2 years' experience in consultative sales within tiles, sanitary ware, interior finishes, furniture, home decor, kitchens, bathrooms, building materials, luxury retail, hospitality, automotive, or other premium customer-facing environments.

A proven record of consistently achieving and exceeding sales targets, with specific numbers you can discuss.

Outstanding verbal communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with confidence engaging high-value clients and influencing purchasing decisions.

Strong networking, negotiation and relationship-building skills, demonstrated by accounts or clients you have personally developed.

Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office; CRM experience is an added advantage.

A self-driven, commercially minded approach, motivated by results and performance-based earnings.

CORE CAPABILITIES

The interview process will ask you to provide specific, verifiable examples of how you have demonstrated:

Eloquence and Confidence:
