Job Summary
Support the implementation and management of pharmaceutical sample handling processes to ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements and laboratory procedures.
Oversee sample receipt, tracking, storage, documentation and disposal while maintaining data integrity and operational efficiency within the laboratory.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement policies, strategies, standards, procedures, guidelines and methodologies relating to testing and research of Health Products and Technologies (HPTs).
- Maintain compliance with WHO Good Practices for Pharmaceutical Quality Control Laboratories and ISO 17025 standards.
- Comply with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Biosafety and Biosecurity requirements and participate in monitoring laboratory environmental conditions.
- Report deviations in laboratory environmental conditions and support implementation of corrective actions.
- Maintain data security, protection and traceability through the Laboratory Information Management System.
- Support departmental performance management processes, including performance contracting and staff appraisal activities.
- Participate in preparation of work plans and support efficient day-to-day laboratory operations.
- Generate requisitions for approval and participate in administrative planning, budgeting and procurement processes.
- Prepare samples for disposal and ensure waste management activities comply with established procedures.
- Provide oversight and verification of quotations, invoices, methods of analysis and request forms against laboratory analyses conducted.
- Coordinate receipt of samples and consignments and ensure compliance with established regulations and procedures.
- Establish and maintain repositories and inventories of manufacturer methods, validation data, client samples, client listings, costing information and certificates.
- Ensure proper disposal of samples in accordance with approved laboratory and regulatory procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- in Pharmacy, Environmental Health or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Certificate of Registration as a Pharmacist from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
- Membership to a relevant professional body.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
Experience
Minimum cumulative service period of six (6) years of relevant work experience.
At least three (3) years of experience at the level of Pharmaceutical Analyst I or in a comparable position.
