Job Title: Sales Representative (Spare Parts)

Location: Kirinyaga Road, CBD, Nairobi

Gross Salary: KES. 25,000 – 30,000

About the company:

A well-established supplier of vehicle and machinery spare parts, with an office in Kirinyaga Road CBD serving walk-in customers as well as garages, fleet owners and dealers across the surrounding region. Sales growth depends on a team that serves counter customers well and also goes out to win and keep accounts, so a strong, hands-on sales presence is central to how the business operates.

Why this role exists

Customers buy spare parts when something has broken down, so they want the right part, a fair price and a quick answer. The business loses sales when a customer is not served properly, a wrong part is quoted, or a regular account is not visited and drifts to a competitor. This person is the face of the Kirinyaga office to its customers: serving them at the counter, going out to meet them in the field, and turning those relationships into steady, repeat sales. Your job is to grow sales, keep customers coming back, and make sure every order is recorded and followed through correctly.

What you are expected to achieve:

1. Grow sales in the territory

Meet the monthly sales targets agreed with the company.

Identify and approach new customers such as garages, transporters, fleet owners, farms and businesses, and win their regular orders.

Promote the full range of parts and recommend suitable alternatives when an item is not in stock.

What success looks like:

agreed sales targets met consistently; a growing base of active, repeat customers.

2. Serve walk-in customers at the counter

Welcome customers promptly, understand what they need and identify the correct part.

Give accurate prices, availability and advice, and close the sale on the spot where possible.

What success looks like:

customers served quickly and correctly; few returns or wrong-part complaints.

3. Build and maintain customer relationships in the field

Plan and carry out regular field visits to existing and prospective customers, covering the territory systematically.

Handle the demands of field work: long days, travel, and meeting several customers in a day.

Follow up quotations and enquiries until the customer either orders or gives a clear reason why not.

What success looks like:

a visit plan followed every week; key accounts visited on schedule; quotations followed up within an agreed time.

4. Process orders accurately and keep records right

Prepare quotations, take orders and pass them to stores and accounts with the correct part numbers, quantities and prices.

Record sales activity, customer visits and orders in the company system on the same day.

Follow up customer payments so that sales on credit are collected within agreed terms.

What success looks like:

no order errors traced to the sales representative; records up to date daily; overdue balances kept within agreed limits.

5. Bring back market feedback

Report regularly on fast-moving parts, items customers ask for that are not stocked, competitor prices and any customer concerns.

What success looks like:

a short weekly feedback report that the office uses to improve stock and pricing decisions.

Key Performance Expectations and Milestones

First 30 Days:

Learn the product range, pricing, the company system and the order process. Meet existing customers and map out the Kirinyaga territory and a weekly field visit plan.

By Day 90:

Be serving the counter confidently and running a regular field visit schedule. Have opened new accounts and be hitting the agreed sales targets.

By Month 6:

Consistently meet monthly sales targets. Maintain accurate records, and keep credit sales collected within agreed terms.

By Month 12:

Show steady growth in sales and in the number of repeat customers. Demonstrate a proactive approach, bringing in new accounts and ideas to improve sales rather than simply maintaining existing business.

Who we are looking for (minimum needed to achieve the above)

Proven sales experience

, ideally 2+ years, with a strong record of meeting targets in a counter, field or distribution sales role.

Knowledge of spare parts is an added advantage

(vehicle, machinery or similar), including the ability to identify parts and understand customer needs.

Diploma in Sales & Marketing, Business or a related field.

Comfortable with field work and a demanding schedule: travel, long days and meeting targets under pressure.

Good communication and negotiation skills, with the confidence to approach new customers and close sales.

Computer literate, with the ability to use a sales or inventory system and prepare accurate quotations.

Strong integrity, self-discipline and a customer-first attitude.
