Job Purpose

The Public Relations Strategist will be responsible for developing and executing strategic public relations initiatives that strengthen Mogo Kenya’s reputation, enhance visibility, build stakeholder confidence, and support business objectives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Strategic Public Relations & Communications
  • Develop and implement integrated PR and communications strategies aligned with Mogo Kenya’s business objectives, brand positioning, and growth priorities.
  • Translate business priorities into compelling communication narratives, campaigns, and programmes that resonate with internal and external audiences.
  • Develop and execute proactive communications initiatives that position Mogo Kenya as a credible, trusted, and responsible player in the financial services and asset financing industry.
  • Identify emerging reputation risks, industry trends, media opportunities, and relevant external developments, and recommend appropriate communication responses.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to leadership and business teams on key business priorities, stakeholder matters, and reputational considerations.
  • Media Relations & Thought Leadership
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, media houses, industry influencers, and other relevant media stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute targeted media engagement strategies that generate quality, relevant, and credible coverage for Mogo Kenya.
  • Identify and leverage opportunities for executive visibility, thought leadership, expert commentary, and industry participation.
  • Develop high-quality media and executive communications materials, including press releases, media briefs, talking points, opinion pieces, speeches, and key messages.
  • Support the positioning of Mogo Kenya’s leadership as credible and authoritative voices on relevant industry, economic, financial services, and asset financing matters.
  • Manage and oversee impactful content across Mogo Kenya’s owned platforms, including the website and LinkedIn, ensuring content is accurate, timely, engaging, and aligned with brand and business objectives.
  • Reputation & Stakeholder Management
  • Support the development and implementation of reputation management strategies that strengthen trust and protect Mogo Kenya’s corporate reputation.
  • Monitor media coverage, public conversations, industry developments, and emerging issues that may impact the organization’s reputation or business interests.
  • Develop proactive and timely communication responses to reputational risks, sensitive business matters, and emerging issues.
  • Support strategic stakeholder engagement with regulators, industry associations, partners, media, and other relevant external stakeholders.

  • Lead the development and execution of PR campaigns, product launches, partnerships, corporate initiatives, and industry engagement programmes.
  • Develop integrated communications plans to support key business initiatives, product offerings, partnerships, and strategic priorities.
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure communications are consistent, accurate, audience-focused, and aligned with Mogo Kenya’s brand and business objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to amplify key business milestones, customer impact, partnerships, and organizational achievements through relevant communication channels.
  • Measure the effectiveness of PR campaigns and initiatives and translate performance data into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Reporting, Insights & Budget Management
  • Develop regular PR and communications performance reports, including media coverage analysis, campaign performance, audience reach, sentiment, and reputational insights.
  • Track and analyze the quality, relevance, reach, and impact of media coverage and communications initiatives.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to improve PR effectiveness, brand visibility, stakeholder engagement, and communications outcomes.
  • Support the development and management of the PR and communications budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and value for investment.

Qualifications
