We are seeking a commercially astute Procurement & Supply Chain Manager to lead the sourcing and procurement of grains and other strategic raw materials for the Rosemark Division. The role requires a highly analytical and shrewd buyer with proven expertise in both local and international procurement, supplier negotiations, import management and strategic sourcing. The successful candidate will drive cost optimisation, ensure uninterrupted supply, manage supplier performance and deliver sustainable value through strong commercial acumen and market intelligence.
Description
Manage end-to-end procurement processes from requisition to delivery, ensuring timely sourcing, cost efficiency, compliance with company policies, and uninterrupted supply of goods and services.
Develop and implement procurement strategies that support organizational objectives, optimize costs, mitigate supply risks, and maximize value for money.
Source, evaluate, and onboard suppliers through comprehensive market assessments, supplier due diligence, and performance evaluations to ensure quality, reliability, and competitiveness.
Conduct continuous market research and price benchmarking to identify industry trends, evaluate product pricing, and negotiate the most competitive rates and commercial terms for the organization.
Lead supplier negotiations on pricing, contracts, payment terms, service levels, and delivery schedules to achieve cost savings and favorable contractual arrangements.
Manage import procurement activities, including planning, documentation, shipment coordination, customs clearance, and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
Coordinate closely with clearing and forwarding agents, shipping lines, customs authorities, and the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to ensure timely clearance and delivery of imported goods while minimizing demurrage and clearance costs.
Ensure compliance with procurement policies, statutory regulations, tax requirements, import/export regulations, and audit standards.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records, supplier databases, contracts, import documentation, and inventory reports to support operational and audit requirements.
Collaborate with user departments to identify procurement needs, define specifications, manage budgets, and align purchasing decisions with organizational priorities.
Monitor inventory levels and implement effective replenishment plans to maintain optimal stock availability while minimizing excess inventory and carrying costs.
Support the Dry Goods Store and Drug Store in procurement planning, stock management, inventory optimization, demand forecasting, and stock reconciliation activities.
Prepare procurement budgets, cost analyses, supplier performance reports, and management reports to support strategic decision-making.
Implement and continuously improve procurement systems, controls, and processes to enhance efficiency, transparency, and compliance.
Resolve supplier, logistics, and inventory-related issues, including shipment delays, quality concerns, customs clearance challenges, and invoice discrepancies.
Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships to improve service delivery, innovation, responsiveness, and long-term value creation.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Procurement & Supply Chain Management, Purchasing & Supplies, Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting, Logistics or a related business discipline.
