A
Plant
Mechanic
is responsible for maintaining, repairing and installing machinery and equipment. The person will play a critical role in keeping machinery operational, ensuring safety and supporting productivity across the company. The role ensures smooth, safe, and efficient plant operations while adhering to environmental and safety regulations. He/she must be highly skilled and hands-on Heavy Equipment Mechanic responsible for responding to mechanical emergencies, conducting inspections, and performing fault diagnostics on heavy-duty machinery such as trucks, cranes, and bulldozers. The successful candidate should be proficient in adjusting equipment, replacing faulty parts, and carrying out major and routine repairs.
KEY
Responsibilities
- ü Respond to and resolve mechanical emergencies through effective diagnostics and repair.
- ü Conduct major repairs and rebuilds of diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic pumps for heavy equipment such as backhoes and wheel loaders.
- ü Plan and execute comprehensive maintenance schedules, including routine servicing, lubrication, and safety inspections to prevent breakdowns.
- ü Minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency
- ü Supervise workshop operations, assign tasks and provide technical training to junior mechanics
- ü Service specialized equipment such as diesel generators (CAT, PERKINS, Kohler, and BH models), water pumps, outboard engines, cranes, and construction machinery.
- ü Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty vehicles and machine attachments such as hydraulic horse pipes, blades, and side booms.
- ü Monitoring equipment performance and troubleshooting issues.
- ü Collaborating with team members to optimize plant efficiency
- ü Advise on safe work methods(safety protocols) /conditions appropriate for safe use of the equipment; personal protective equipment
- ü Adhere to operator code of practice and present yourself in neat and professional appearance;
- ü Adhere to all Environmental Health & Safety procedures, policies and instructions;
- ü Keep accurate maintenance records
- ü Any other work related duty as assigned from time to time.
