Lead and guide comprehensive landscape analyses focused on fortification initiatives across Eastern and Southern Africa, ensuring alignment with donor-agreed deliverables.

Perform scoping exercises to gather fortification-related information, including national policies, guidelines, strategies, work plans, private sector engagement, and key stakeholders in five priority countries.
Identify critical internal (Supply Chain, procurement, partnerships, program) and external (government, donors, technical agencies) opportunities as programmatic entry points.
Based on the information collected, facilitate validation interviews and workshops in the designated priority countries.
Spearhead the execution of WFP ESRO’s food fortification strategy, aligning it with WFP’s broader mission to enhance dietary quality and nutritional sufficiency through fortification initiatives.
Contribute to the effective execution of WFP ESRO’s food fortification strategy and the corresponding country operational plans for food fortification.

include ensuring ongoing enhancement of the technical expertise of critical human resources involved in food fortification.
Position WFP prominently as a leading technical authority in food fortification throughout the Eastern and Southern Africa Region (ESRO), reinforcing its strategic role and influence.
Lead regional advocacy initiatives and mobilize resources to support the expansion and long-term viability of WFP’s food fortification portfolio across Eastern and Southern Africa, while ensuring robust reporting on progress and outcomes.
Track the advancement of strategy implementation throughout ESRO, pinpointing obstacles and proposing viable solutions to ensure optimal performance and alignment with organizational goals.
Provide ongoing technical direction and support to ESRO country offices regarding food fortification initiatives to ensure adherence to best practices and regulatory standards.
Offer expert technical support throughout the phases of planning, design, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of fortification initiatives.
Offer technical assistance to country offices in developing and executing formative assessments—including landscape studies and similar initiatives—to guide and enhance the design of WFP programs.
Provide expert technical assistance to enhance the capacity of government stakeholders while developing or revising regulatory frameworks and pertinent policy instruments, including standards and monitoring guidelines.
Deliver technical assistance to Country offices, facilitating the establishment of a conducive policy framework that promotes the integration of fortified foods into WFP operations and government-led initiatives.
By playing a key role in regional and national strategic discussions, you will help guide program design, supply chain decisions, and policy initiatives, ultimately driving the expansion and enhancement of fortified food availability within both WFP and government-led humanitarian responses.
Drive the execution of WFP’s strategic initiative to expand the incorporation of fortified maize meal/flour and other fortifiable staples within WFP operational frameworks.
Provide technical assistance in evidence generation, research, and related activities to facilitate the integration and scaling up of fortified foods within WFP operations and government-led programs.
Collaborate as needed with internal cross-functional committees, working groups, and task forces to advance the integration and expansion of fortified foods within WFP operations and government-led initiatives.
Enhance collaboration with Supply Chain Units, including Food Safety and Quality Assurance, Local and Regional Procurement, and Logistics, as pivotal partners in improving the nutritional adequacy of WFP food assistance.
Offer technical expertise and facilitate coordination efforts in WFP’s collaboration with regional partners across Eastern and Southern Africa.
Offer strategic leadership and technical support to enhance WFP’s collaboration with regional bodies, networks, and programs focused on food fortification throughout Eastern and Southern Africa.
Lead efforts in fostering regional advocacy and advancing thought leadership initiatives focused on food fortification by actively participating in policy dialogues, regional forums, technical working groups, and knowledge-sharing events.
