Job Summary

Responsible for delivering exceptional customer experience, driving Islamic Banking business growth and profitability within the branch network, while ensuring compliance with operational, regulatory, and risk management standards.

Key Responsibilities

Business Growth (60%)
Implement Islamic Banking business strategies aimed at increasing new business acquisition and wallet share from existing customers.
Maintain a strong understanding of Islamic Banking retail and business banking products to effectively meet customer needs.
Manage portfolio risks in line with the Bank's risk appetite.
Collaborate with Direct Sales, Asset Finance, Corporate Banking, and Bancassurance teams to maximize cross-selling opportunities.
Support product review and development by providing market feedback and customer insights.
Conduct market intelligence to identify new opportunities, customer trends, and regulatory developments.
Contribute to branch Islamic Banking sales strategies and business development plans.
Coordinate marketing initiatives to acquire new business and strengthen customer relationships.
Grow and manage an assigned customer portfolio while achieving sales and performance targets.
Handle customer complaints promptly and escalate issues where necessary.
Ensure new accounts are funded promptly during customer onboarding.
Monitor personal performance against agreed targets and implement corrective action where required.
Support branch campaigns and business growth initiatives.
Maintain excellent customer service standards at all times.
Drive business performance through adherence to turnaround times (TAT) and service standards.
Ensure account opening, closure, and restructuring activities comply with Bank policies.
Work with the Branch Manager to implement branch execution plans aligned to the Bank's growth, transformation, and returns strategy.
Internal Controls & Risk Management (10%)
Ensure compliance with Absa policies and procedures when handling banking products and services.
Adhere to KYC and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements for new and existing customers.
Ensure compliance with operational risk controls to minimize losses.
Manage operating costs within approved limits.
Support branch audit and control activities including assigned branch checks.
Ensure all charges, commissions, and fees due to the Bank are correctly collected.
Maintain accurate customer records within the core banking system.
Customer Experience (20%)
Deliver excellent customer experience across all customer interactions.
Ensure account onboarding
and financing processes meet established turnaround times.
Resolve customer complaints and inquiries promptly.
Respond to customer requests via phone, email, and written correspondence within agreed timelines.
Ensure customer information remains current and accurate.
Support achievement of branch Net Promoter Score (NPS) targets.
Gather customer feedback and recommend service improvements.
Monitor branch service delivery and manage customer waiting times effectively.
Capacity Building & People Management (10%)
Promote teamwork and a positive working environment within the branch.
Complete assigned e-learning and training programs within required timelines.
Participate in training needs identification and personal development planning.
Manage leave planning in consultation with the line manager.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a Business-related field from a recognized university.
Preferred Experience
Experience in Islamic Banking.
Knowledge of retail and business banking products and services.
Experience in customer relationship management and sales.

Knowledge and Skills

Good understanding of Absa Retail and Business Banking products and strategy.
Knowledge of Islamic Banking principles and Muslim banking culture.
Understanding of Islamic Banking competitors, products, and processes.
Knowledge of Shariah Law, Shariah Boards, and Shariah audits.
Understanding of Islamic financial instruments and banking structures.
Technical Competencies
Knowledge of computerized banking systems and spreadsheet applications.
Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
Risk identification and mitigation capabilities.
Understanding of banking regulatory requirements including CBK, KBA, and KRA regulations.
Basic credit analysis, underwriting, and portfolio management skills.
Knowledge of accounting standards, audit standards, and banking legislation.
