Responsibilities
- Oversee County-level adaptation and mitigation projects, programs and activities across multiple sectors.
- Guiding the mainstreaming of climate change policies into county development plans and ensuring alignment with the national climate change act.
- Building institutional capacity, creating public awareness and liaising with national bodies or partners regarding climate adaptation and carbon initiatives.
- Provide Technical support on climate change to the various sector departments and agencies.
- Establish and manage a county registry for appropriate adaptation and mitigation actions by private and public entities
- To serve as the county knowledge and information management for collating, verifying, refining and disseminating knowledge and information on climate change
- Identifying low carbon development strategies and coordinate related measurements, reporting and verification
- Develop strategies and coordinate actions for building resilience to climate change and enhance adaptive capacity.
- Optimize the County’s opportunities to mobilize climate finance.
- Coordinate implementation of gender and intergenerational climate change education, consultation and learning at the sub-county and ward levels.
- Enhance sourcing and dissemination of climate smart technologies.
- Qualifications
- Be a Kenyan citizen
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Climate Change, Meteorology or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
