Our client, a leading Food FMCG company headquartered in Kenya, is seeking to recruit a dynamic, commercially driven, and growth-focused Country Sales Team Leader to lead and grow its FMCG food manufacturing business in Tanzania. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving country-level sales growth, expanding market penetration, establishing and managing an effective distribution network, and leading local sales and operations teams. The role will play a key part in strengthening the company’s retail, wholesale, and modern trade presence while ensuring sustainable and profitable business growth.

• 8–10 years of progressive FMCG sales and distribution experience.

Responsibilities
- Develop and execute country-specific sales strategies to achieve revenue, volume, and market share targets.
- Drive market penetration by expanding retail, wholesale, and modern trade networks across Tanzania.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities, territories, channels, and strategic accounts.
- Lead new product launches and drive category growth across relevant sales channels.
- Monitor sales performance and implement corrective actions to achieve business targets.
- Establish, develop, and manage an effective distribution network across Tanzania.
- Identify, appoint, and manage distributors, dealers, wholesalers, and key retail partners.
- Ensure effective market coverage, product availability, and route-to-market execution.
- Monitor supply chain, logistics, stock levels, and inventory availability to minimize stock-outs and excess inventory.
- Implement effective trade promotions, merchandising, and product visibility initiatives at points of sale.
- Ensure effective execution of distribution and sales plans across assigned territories.
- Recruit, train, lead, and manage the local sales and operations team.
- Set clear performance targets and monitor individual and team performance.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, guidance, and motivation to build a high-performing sales culture.
- Develop local talent and strengthen the organization’s sales and operational capabilities.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination between the Tanzania operation and the Kenya- based management team.
- Take responsibility for country-level sales performance and P&L management.
- Develop and manage annual sales budgets, forecasts, and expenditure plans.
- Monitor profitability, margins, trade spend, and overall financial performance.
- Prepare regular sales, financial, and operational performance reports for management.
- Ensure compliance with Tanzanian laws, taxation requirements, import/export regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain appropriate controls to safeguard company assets and ensure responsible use of resources.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, retailers, wholesalers, modern trade partners, and other key stakeholders.
- Monitor competitor activities, pricing, promotions, product launches, and distribution strategies.
- Track consumer trends, market developments, and emerging business opportunities.
- Provide actionable market intelligence and strategic recommendations to regional and senior management.
- Represent the company professionally in the Tanzanian market and strengthen its brand presence.
