Purpose of the Job
Our client is a Wildlife Conservancy organization looking to hire a Communications Manager responsible for the day-to-day management, coordination, and delivery of the company’s communications function. The role supports the Head of Communications and Development (Kenya) by translating approved strategic priorities and communications plans into effective operational delivery across content, media relations, digital communications, social media, stakeholder communications and internal coordination.
The Communications Manager works closely with programme and departmental teams to coordinate communications activities, identify storytelling opportunities and ensure high-quality, timely and consistent execution across the company’s communications channels. The role also provides communications and operational support for donor, partner and VIP engagement, as directed by the Head of Communications and Development.
The role is responsible for implementing the approved communications strategy and plans while strengthening the company’s profile, reputation and stakeholder engagement. It ensures that communications activities consistently reflect the company’s values, approved messaging, positioning and visual identity, while providing communications support to fundraising, donor, partner and VIP engagement activities.

Responsibilities
- Communications Operations and Team Leadership – 25%
- Support the implementation of the company’s approved communications strategy and annual communications plans.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the communications function, ensuring priorities are clearly defined and deliverables are completed on time and to a high standard.
- Maintain and implement the Communications Manual, protocols and editorial standards.
- Coordinate the communications calendar and workflow across the communications team and wider organisation.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching and mentorship to the communications team.
- Allocate work, manage workloads and monitor team deliverables.
- Foster collaboration, creativity and accountability within the team.

- Implement approved integrated communications plans across digital, media, and stakeholder channels.
- Coordinate and oversee the production of high-quality written, visual and multimedia content in line with approved communications priorities and brand standards.
- Manage the company’s social media function, ensuring delivery of the approved strategy and content calendar.

- Coordinate the production and distribution of organisational newsletters and other regular communications.
- Work with programme and departmental teams to identify stories and translate them into compelling communications content.
- Provide communications support for fundraising campaigns and donor stewardship activities led by the Development function.
- Maintain relationships with media and coordinate routine media engagement, while supporting strategic media engagement led by the Head of Communications and Development.
- Coordinate the development of press releases, media statements, media kits and related materials for review and approval by the Head of Communications and Development.
- Implement crisis communications activities under the direction of the Head of Communications and Development.
- Identify opportunities for positive media coverage and compelling storytelling in line with the approved communications strategy.
- Ensure consistent day-to-day application of the company’s brand standards.
- Use communications performance data and audience insights to improve operational delivery and effectiveness.
- Escalate significant or sensitive media matters to the Head of Communications and Development.
- Events and Campaign Communications Delivery – 20%
- Coordinate communications delivery for institutional events, fundraising campaigns and major organisational activities.
- Coordinate the production of communications materials required for events and campaigns.
- Manage content production requirements, including photography and videography, in coordination with the relevant team members.
- Provide communications support for conservation, fundraising and stakeholder events.
- Coordinate communications plans for major organisational activities and milestones, in line with approved priorities.

- Work with the M&E team to track progress against approved communications objectives.
- Monitor communications performance and provide operational insights to the Head of Communications and Development.
- Maintain accurate performance records of campaigns, media coverage, communications outputs and other relevant communications activities.
- Monitor delivery against agreed communications plans, timelines and priorities.
- Identify operational challenges and recommend improvements to communications processes and delivery.
