Responsibilities
- Clearing blocked and partially blocked storm-water drains and channels;
- Removing silt, vegetation, litter and other debris from drainage infrastructure;
- Clearing accessible culvert entrances and outlets;
- Placing extracted material at designated collection points for immediate removal; and
- Identifying damaged or defective drainage infrastructure for reporting to the relevant technical officers.
- The drainage clearance teams will operate under the technical supervision of the Department of Transport & Infrastructure.
- Collecting waste and debris removed from drains;
- Loading waste and debris onto designated County/contracted waste trucks;
- Sweeping and cleaning immediate work areas;
- Preventing extracted waste from returning to drainage systems; and
- Supporting transportation of waste to approved disposal, recovery or temporary handling facilities.
- Waste Collection and evacuation teams will operate under the technical supervision of the
- Department of Environment and waste Management.
