The company also provides technical and surgical support services, working closely with surgeons and healthcare facilities to ensure quality patient outcomes.
  • Job Summary
  • The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving sustainable business growth by leading our client's commercial activities, strengthening customer relationships, supervising the business development team, and ensuring seamless coordination between sales, technical support, and operational functions. The role provides strategic oversight of market expansion, customer retention, sales performance, collections, and service excellence to achieve organizational revenue and profitability objectives.
  • Duties and Responsibilities
  • 1. Business Development and Market Growth
  • Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with our client's growth objectives.
  • Identify and coordinate the acquisition of new hospitals, clinics, specialists, and other healthcare customers using market intelligence and insights from the business development team.
  • Monitor customer needs, competitor activity, market trends, and opportunities for the company product portfolio including implants, rehabilitation products, splints, and related products.
  • Support new product introductions, supplier partnerships, and other commercial initiatives.
  • Build relationships with key surgeons, healthcare facilities, and strategic partners to expand the company's market presence.
  • 2. Sales and Marketing
  • Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and marketing plans aligned with company targets, incorporating plans submitted by team members for management review.
  • Monitor the sales pipeline, territory coverage, and follow-up of active opportunities.
  • Review sales results and conversion rates, and direct actions to improve revenue generation.
  • Oversee marketing campaigns, digital marketing, promotional activities, and customer engagement by the field team.
  • 3. Technical Operations
  • Supervise Theatre Technicians and coordinate their deployment to provide appropriate support during surgical procedures.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Warehouse, Logistics, and Finance on surgery schedules, product availability, order processing, and timely invoicing.
  • Monitor the quality of technical support provided to surgeons and hospitals, resolve operational bottlenecks, and implement improvements.
  • 4. Commercial and Financial Performance
  • Oversee regional debt collection in collaboration with Finance, including follow-up on overdue accounts and accurate recording of collections.
  • Ensure commission details are submitted to Finance for processing by the 15th of every month.
  • Track sales growth, collections, and resource utilization against departmental targets.
  • Manage the cost-effective use of motorbikes, travel, promotional materials, and other departmental resources.
  • Contribute to departmental budgets, expenditure plans, and revenue forecasts.
  • 5. Customer Relationship Management
  • Review customer concerns and feedback received by the Sales, Marketing, and Technical teams, and coordinate their timely resolution.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and lead actions to improve service, retention, and relationships with existing customers.
  • 6. Team Leadership and Performance
  • Lead, coach, and manage the performance of all direct reports across the Sales, Marketing, and Technical teams.
  • Conduct regular performance check-ins to review progress, give feedback, and address performance gaps.
  • Identify skills gaps and coordinate Continuous Medical Education (CME), product training, workshops, and other relevant development activities.
  • Manage duty rosters, leave schedules, and workforce planning for departmental staff, volunteers, and interns.
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement, while supporting talent development and succession planning.
  • 7. Reporting, Compliance, and Planning
  • Conduct weekly departmental meetings to review performance, operational priorities, and corrective actions.
  • Provide the General Manager with weekly updates and operational reports covering sales, business development activity, surgical cases, customer engagement, technical team performance, and key issues. Reconcile sales figures with Finance reports.
  • Submit monthly departmental reports covering sales, surgical cases, customer engagement, conversion rates, collections, budget performance, new product development, achievements, challenges, and recommended actions.
