Job Summary
Support the Bank’s data protection and privacy function by providing technical, operational, administrative and compliance support to ensure adherence to data protection laws, information security standards and internal governance requirements.
Assist in strengthening data governance, privacy compliance, audit readiness, risk management and implementation of technical controls that safeguard personal and sensitive information.
Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation and monitoring of data protection and privacy compliance programmes in line with the Data Protection Act, 2019.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining data governance controls, policies and procedures.
- Support implementation and monitoring of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) controls and related data security technologies.
- Monitor compliance with data protection requirements and internal information security standards.
- Assist in identification, assessment and mitigation of data protection and privacy risks.
- Support management of access controls and technical safeguards to protect personal and sensitive data.
- Participate in compliance reviews, audits, risk assessments and regulatory examinations.
- Assist in investigation and reporting of data protection incidents, breaches and compliance concerns.
- Maintain data protection documentation, records and compliance evidence.
- Conduct research on emerging privacy regulations, standards and best practices.
- Support awareness programmes and internal capacity building on data protection and privacy requirements.
- Collaborate with technology, risk, compliance and business teams to ensure effective privacy and security governance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, Network Security, Business Information Systems or a related field.
- Certification or training in Data Protection or Privacy such as CIPM, CIPT, ISO Privacy modules or equivalent.
- Information Security certifications such
- as CISSP, CISM, Network+, CCNP or equivalent will be an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum two (2) to four (4) years of experience in Data Protection, Information Security, IT Risk, Compliance or Data Governance roles.
Experience supporting Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technologies and information security controls.
Experience supporting compliance, audit, governance and risk management activities.
Exposure to banking systems, digital banking platforms or regulated financial services environments is an added advantage.
Experience supporting audits, compliance assessments and risk reviews.
