Job Summary
Ensure compliance with cargo quality, handling and storage standards through inspection, verification and monitoring of cargo throughout acceptance, storage and dispatch processes.
Support maintenance of product integrity, cold-chain compliance, cargo safety and operational quality standards while ensuring accurate documentation and timely escalation of quality deviations.
Contribute to safe, efficient and compliant cargo operations within aviation and warehouse environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Cargo Inspection & Quality Verification
- Inspect cargo identity, piece counts, shipment labels, packaging and physical condition at cargo acceptance, storage and dispatch stages.
- Verify cargo conformity with operational handling requirements and quality standards.
- Identify damaged, mislabeled or non-compliant cargo and initiate corrective action procedures.
- Ensure cargo is handled and processed according to established operating procedures.
- Temperature Monitoring & Cold Chain Management
- Measure and record cargo temperatures using approved calibrated equipment.
- Monitor temperature-sensitive and perishable cargo in accordance with operational requirements.
- Escalate temperature excursions and cold-chain breaches promptly.
- Maintain accurate temperature monitoring records and quality documentation.
- ULD & Cargo Build-Up Inspection
- Inspect cargo build-up stability, contour and load configuration.
- Verify proper interlocking, strapping, netting and cargo segregation procedures.
- Confirm correct application of cargo labels and operational markings.
- Assess visible serviceability and condition of Unit Load Devices (ULDs).
- Ensure cargo loading and handling standards meet safety and quality requirements.
- Documentation & Record Management
- Maintain complete inspection records linked to the relevant Air Waybill (AWB), shipment or ULD.
- Document inspection findings, quality checks and corrective actions accurately.
- Record pending inspections, cargo holds and unresolved quality concerns during shift handovers.
- Ensure traceability and proper maintenance of quality assurance records.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Monitor compliance with cargo handling, storage and transportation quality standards.
- Identify operational quality deviations and non-conformances.
- Promptly escalate quality issues to the Quality
- Officer and Operations Supervisor.
- Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Promote adherence to aviation, warehouse and cargo-handling regulations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of quality assurance processes.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Quality Assurance, Aviation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Food Science, Operations Management or a related field.
- Additional certification in cargo handling, cold-chain management or quality control is an added advantage.
Experience
Experience in cargo operations, cold-chain management, warehousing, aviation logistics or quality inspection is desirable.
Experience conducting inspections and monitoring quality standards in operational environments is an advantage.
Prior exposure to aviation cargo operations or perishable cargo handling is preferred.
