Egerton University is hiring a Grants Officer to coordinate grant-funded projects and ensure successful implementation of funded programmes. The role is based in Nakuru and experience in project management is required. Reporting to Director, Research and Extension, the Grants Officer will strengthen Egerton University’s capacity for resource mobilization, grants acquisition, and grants management by coordinating pre-award and post-award grant processes, ensuring donor compliance, supporting academic staff in proposal development, and contributing to the achievement of the University Strategic Plan. Qualifications Applicants MUST have the following academic/professional qualifications and requirements: Master’s degree in Project Management, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Development Studies, or a related field. At least three (3) years’ experience in grants management, research administration, or donor-funded project coordination in an international organization Demonstrated experience in proposal development and donor reporting in an international organization Familiarity with national and international research funders (NRF, EU, USAID, World Bank, Foundations) Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines Key Responsibilities Identify, track, and disseminate funding opportunities from national, regional, and international donors. Support academic and administrative staff in concept note and proposal development. Coordinate proposal reviews to ensure compliance with donor and university requirements. Assist in developing competitive technical narratives and grant budgets. Maintain a database of funding opportunities and submitted proposals. 2. Grants Management and Compliance (Post-Award) Develop and update grant management guidelines, templates, and standard operating procedures. Ensure compliance with donor, government, and university financial and ethical regulations. Monitor grant performance against approved work plans and budgets. Maintain accurate records of grants, funding amounts, and project status. Prepare periodic institutional reports on grants performance and funding trends.
