R Roving Safety Officer Jobs Kenya Full Time Nairobi Nairobi Deadline: 4 December 2026 Posted September 5, 2026 Overall purpose of the role: DRC is recruiting a highly qualified Roving Safety Officer to oversee safety matters related to DRC personnel, assets and facilities within DRC Kenya offices and operations. The Roving Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring proper application of DRC’s Safety Risk Management System (SRMS) and the Global Safety Policy. The Roving Safety Officer, in close collaboration and technical oversight by the Country Safety Coordinator, is responsible for managing known and unknown safety risks, and leading on day-to-day safety management under his/her jurisdiction as per the terms of reference. Duties & Responsibilities: Lead in identifying and minimizing potential safety risks to staff, facilities and assets. Regularly update the Local Safety Rules (LSR) and share with all staff. Update the SRAs in the different field locations under his/her jurisdiction. Prepare weekly and monthly safety updates and share with CSC. Respond to safety concerns raised by staff in different locations under his/her jurisdiction. Responsible for safety clearance on staff movements In consultation with the CSC, conduct internal HEIST training for DRC Staff. Ensure all DRC staff are aware of the safety policies and rules. Keep Record of Emergency Data (RED) list updated and ensure all new staff submit their forms. Update and brief all DRC staff and visitors regarding security and context situations. Support the CSC in Organizing for statutory OSHA audits and Fire Audits and thereafter implement their recommendations. Maintain safety upgrade plans and develop Safety Improvement Plan (SIP) based on the Office needs. Establish communication trees and update it frequently. Ensure all vehicles are equipped as per required standards and vehicle SOPs. Act as the focal point for supervising the day/night guards across DRC Locations. Ensure all fire extinguishers and first aid kits are refilled/serviced on time. Support in managing Critical incidents within DRC Locations. Any other tasks as delegated by the Country Safety Coordinator. Experience: and Technical Competence Minimum 5 years’ experience: working as a Safety Officer for an NGO or equivalent in a high risk/conflict zone (or equivalent role). Proven experience: in context/security analysis, documentation and advisory in humanitarian & development settings. Proven in-country experience: liaising with UN missions or agencies. Fluent English, and strong interpersonal, communication, and networking skills. Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines under pressure. Computer literate, able to use common software packages. Ability to diffuse tension and always remain calm and particularly following an incident. Ability to encourage, motivate and guide team members to approach safety and security issues with confidence especially during crises. Proven ability to work effectively with minimal supervision. Education: A degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
