Experience Level: Mid level Experience Length: 3 years Language Requirement: English Working Hours: Full Time - 8 to 5 Applicant Location: Nairobi, Kenya Job descriptions & requirements JOB VACANCY JOB VACANCY NO INTEX/W/AE/15072026/001 JOB TITLE Auto Electrician REPORTING LINE Workshop Manager TERMS OF CONTRACT Fixed Term Contract KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: a) Service, identify and repair faults on electronically controlled vehicle systems such as electronic fuel injection, electronic ignition, Immobilizer and air conditioning; b) Install electrical equipment such as gauges, lighting, alternators and starter motors in vehicles; install electrically operated accessories c) Diagnose & trouble shoot electrical fault of the plant & equipment; test, recondition and replace faulty alternators, starter motors and related items such as voltage regulators and batteries; d) Repair or replace faulty ignition, electrical wiring, fuses, lamps and switches; e) Prioritize and plan for vehicles repairs and maintenance; f) Conduct safety checks and inspections as required and maintain records.; follow and implement Safety Health Environment and Quality (SHEQ) policy; g) Respond to emergencies, breakdowns as required. h) Able to read and understand electrical drawing from service manuals; i) Keep all relevant tools and equipment in good order available at all time to perform the task; j) Prepares materials / parts requisition slip & work done report; k) Reports to Workshop Supervisor/ Plant Manager immediately when any abnormalities noticed on the equipment; l) Any other work related duty as assigned from time to time. KEY COMPETENCIES a) The candidate must have a complete a Grade 1 National Trade Certificate from a recognized institution or hold KNEC certificates in auto electrical field (E); Experience & interest in HE, HV, computerized vehicle diagnosis and engine management (E), can repair other areas of the vehicle if required (D) must be above 25 years of age (E), minimum experience of hands on 3 years working as an auto electrician in a busy workshop(E), must have basic computer skills (D) b) Candidate must be able to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair or maintain electrical components( starters, alternators, and have knowledge on battery care), strong communications skills, able to work effectively in a team, strong sense of work ethics, able to supervise, diagnostic skills, using hand tools and handling small components, needs to be able to look at electrical grids and evaluate them for any problems, to make sure they are being installed correctly, need to be able to identify issues and make corrective measures to fix problems with electrical components.
