Farm Manager managing a mixed farm with dairy cows, sheep, goats, and crops, requiring a Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Science with 2-3 years work experience, in an agricultural environment, on-site role in Timau. Our client is new established small high end resort based in Timau, Meru. They are looking to hire a qualified and experienced farm operations manager with verse knowledge in agriculture which comprises animals and plants. Duties and Responsibilities: Experience: in handling livestock on-farm which comprises of dairy cows, sheep, goats and crops which comprises of vegetables, fruits etc. Implement strategies for maximum yield, organize farm administration and manage businesses and farm staffs. Look for market for the products. Plan finances and production to maintain farm progress against budget parameters. Buy supplies such as fertilizer and seeds. Maintain and monitor the quality of yield, whether livestock or crops. Monitor animal health and welfare, including liaising with Government vets. Maintain knowledge of pests, diseases, understanding how they spread and how to treat them. Apply health and safety standards across the farm. Handling the marketing and sale of products produced on the farm like fruits, vegetables, meats, chicken parts, eggs etc. Visiting different divisions to inspect crops, livestock and also perform tests on soil and water. Ensuring seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and other supplies are regularly restocked. Do Artificial insemination, Fodder production and preservation Ability to bring value to the farm Requirements: Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Science, Animal Science or related field Experience: in managing a mixed farming would be an added advantage 2 – 3 years’ work experience. A passion for agriculture and looking after dairy animals Excellent problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
