Reporting to the FOSA Manager, the Senior FOSA Accountant will provide technical accounting support, strengthen controls, maintain accurate financial records, prepare reconciliations and guide junior accounting staff to enhance financial accuracy and operational efficiency. Min Qualification: Bachelors Experience Level: Mid level Experience Length: 4 years Language Requirement: English Working Hours: Full Time - 8 to 5 Applicant Location: Kenya Job descriptions & requirements Key Responsibilities • Prepare and analyses monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and cash-flow statements, to the required accuracy and standard. • Manage general ledger functions, post and review journal entries, and promptly investigate and resolve account discrepancies. • Prepare reconciliation schedules, account analyses and supporting documentation for management review and audit purposes. • Co-ordinate with internal and external auditors, prepare comprehensive audit files and support tax compliance processes. • Assist the FOSA Manager in financial forecasting, budget variance analysis and departmental budget monitoring. • Supervise, train and appraise junior accountants and clerical staff, ensuring quality output and continuous professional development. • Evaluate and improve accounting procedures to strengthen internal controls and enhance operational efficiency within the FOSA department. • Ensure strict adherence to GAAP, IFRS and applicable SASRA and SACCO regulatory requirements at all times. • Prepare periodic management reports and reconciliation schedules for review by the FOSA Manager and senior management. Qualifications, Experience & Competencies • Bachelor’s Degree in business related field from a recognized university. CPA qualifications while ICPAK is added advantage. • 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience, in a similar role, preferably within a SACCO, microfinance institution or regulated financial environment. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of ERP or accounting software, such as SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks or equivalent SACCO banking systems. • Knowledge of GAAP and financial statement preparation, including month-end and year-end close processes. • Strong analytical thinking and numerical accuracy, with a keen eye for detail. • Effective supervisory and mentoring skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, with high level of professional integrity and reliability.
