It is a teacher's responsibility at Flying Kites Academy to ensure they implement “a holistic approach” and that teachers are the trusted adults that students approach for assistance or guidance. Teachers are the pillars of a safe, inclusive, and gender-transformative learning environment for both boys and girls. The teacher is accountable for igniting a genuine enthusiasm for learning while ensuring that every student is empowered to realize their human rights and challenge harmful stereotypes. A teacher at FKA is responsible for: ● Curriculum Instructional Excellence: You will deliver high-impact instruction aligned with Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum, supporting FKA Mission and Vision. ● You are responsible for implementing Gender-Transformative Education (GTE) across your classes. Actively foster a classroom culture that promotes equity for both boys and girls. ● Whole Child Approach & Students Safeguarding: Cultivate a culture of physical, social, and emotional well-being of your students. Be a mentor and the first responder to student needs, where every learner is safe and supported. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES ● Child Protection & Safeguarding:Set and uphold behavioural expectations in the classroom, managing student behaviour using positive discipline strategies. Create a culture where students come to you as the trusted adult. ● Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment, in line with the FKA Strategy ● Design effective lesson plans and projects that meet learning objectives, are aligned to curriculum standards, and follow the FK approach ● Deliver engaging instruction using a variety of visual/audio strategies to facilitate learning, accommodating the diverse needs of learners and different learning styles ● Develop teaching aids and learning materials to meet the learning styles and interests of learners ● Develop, administer, and grade assessments aimed at measuring learning progress ● Make appropriate use of assessment data, providing feedback and making adjustments for improvement in teaching and learning ● Maintain accurate records of students' attendance, behaviour, performance, and records of critical incidents ● Support students to explore career pathways, to discover and nurture their talents, and to learn about learning opportunities ● Plan and execute learning in-class and outdoor activities. Support school events and co-curricular activities ● Regularly communicate with parents and caregivers through the established FKA communication channels, proactively engaging parental participation in learning ● Observe and understand students’ behaviour and report noted incidents of violence, neglect, or any form of child abuse. ● Collaborate and maintain positive relationships with parents, students, and other school stakeholders ● Continuously develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge through self-directed learning and FKA professional development activities ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES ● Responsibility for management and supervision of daily duties, including but not limited to supervision of assemblies, school meals, student arrivals, and student release. ● Participate in FKSN school network activities, modelling FK practices, and learning from network schools ● Contribute to special projects at Flying Kites and participate in working committees ● Collaborate with the social work team in providing individualised support to students ● Advance the mission of FK by participating in activities and responsibilities consistent with building, upholding, and promoting their mission and vision QUALIFICATIONS ● 5+ Years of experience for a Kenyan organization in a child-centric CBO, NGO, or School environment, teaching: ● A holder of a Bachelor's of Education- (Science) Physics/Chemistry/Biology/Mathematics ● (MUST be TSC Registered) ● Reliable, excellent work ethic, and time management ● Strong classroom management skills Someone who can teach across grades 4 to 9. Teach other learning areas, including Integrated Science, Science and Technology, Pre-technical Studies and Agriculture. ● Strong subject expertise
