KPMG East Africa is hiring a Funds & Grants Advisor to manage grant advisory services, support financial oversight and strengthen compliance. The role is based in Nairobi donor compliance is required. Key Responsibilities Support in the review of implementing partners’ progress reports and verification of information reported therein. Conduct detailed desk-based expenditure verification. Perform analysis of financial and programmatic information and support in making recommendations to clients. Conduct implementation verifications and spot-checks on an ongoing basis. Review key implementer and sub-implementer’s capacities and systems to implementing Fund/ Grant activities. Provide advice on the key implementer and sub-implementer’s compliance with grant/funding agreements. Assist clients in safeguarding expenditures related to supported activities by reviewing plans (workplans and budgets) and providing recommendations to clients. Assess and report on adequacy of fiduciary controls for financial management of donor funds at implementer level. Identify areas of financial risks and propose practical risk mitigation approaches. Management and escalation of any financial issues to the Finance Specialist/ Fund and Grants manager, as they arise in the financial oversight of partners. Support in planning and coordinating meetings that may be required as part of project implementation between partners and clients, including but not limited to project review meetings, budget modifications discussions, and performance meetings. The Senior Associate will also be expected to support IDAS business development activities including strategy, opportunity tracking, proposal writing, lessons learning and thought leadership. Any other tasks that shall be assigned to you. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Business-related programme including but not limited to Commerce, Finance, Economics, Humanities and Social studies, International Development, Development Finance, Financial inclusion, and Public Financial Management. Masters in development finance or any other relevant field is an added advantage. CPA (K) or ACCA. Must have at least 4 – 6 years’ experience in the development sector in relevant specialization. Experience in audit is an added advantage. Technical competencies & Personal attributes: Awareness of all processes required for a client engagement including risk management processes. Ability to handle complex & challenging assignments. Experience working in a complex, fast-moving environment and dealing professionally with multiple stakeholders. Understanding of donor funding and development sector. Basic knowledge on contracting and project close-outs. Clear understanding of log frames and the programmatic results framework Strong analytical, writing, presentation, and communication skills. Ability to build collaborative relationships with others inside and outside the organization. Ability to work independently and proven ability to manage priorities. Team player: Has good people management skills, work organization and coordination skills, can also coach/ mentor junior team members. Strong writing and presentation skills.
