The role is responsible for developing underwriting strategies, managing underwriting performance, and providing technical leadership to support the company’s growth objectives.ess growth, strategic partnerships, customer acquisition, and revenue generation initiatives across the organization. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement underwriting policies, guidelines, and procedures aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements. Assess and approve complex insurance risks within delegated authority limits while ensuring profitability and portfolio quality. Monitor underwriting performance, loss ratios, claims trends, and portfolio exposure, recommending corrective actions where necessary. Lead and manage the underwriting team, providing coaching, performance management, and technical guidance. Ensure timely processing and issuance of quotations, policies, endorsements, and renewals. Collaborate with business development teams to support product growth while maintaining underwriting discipline. Review and recommend pricing structures based on risk exposure, claims experience, and market trends. Monitor compliance with company underwriting standards, industry regulations, and internal controls. Develop and maintain strong relationships with intermediaries, brokers, partners, and key stakeholders. Conduct regular underwriting audits and quality assurance reviews. Support product development initiatives through underwriting insights and market intelligence. Prepare underwriting reports and portfolio performance analyses for senior management. Qualifications and Experience Degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Finance, or a related field. ACII, AIIK, Diploma in Insurance, or other relevant professional insurance qualification. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in underwriting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Strong knowledge of insurance products, underwriting principles, risk assessment, and pricing methodologies. Sound understanding of insurance regulatory requirements and market dynamics. Experience in portfolio management and underwriting operations.
